About Us

The Edmond Historical Society & Museum is housed in a historic armory, built in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration. The Edmond community began meeting and collecting artifacts in 1983 with the goal of starting a museum. The first exhibit opened in 1985 and the site is now home to 41,000+ artifacts and photographs.

The museum mission: "Celebrate Edmond History Through Preservation and Education. The Vision: To connect people to Edmond by providing a sense of belonging through meaningful stories and experiences

Free admission is offered visitors, primarily coming from the Edmond and Oklahoma City area, but with increasing world-wide traffic along Rt. 66. The museum regularly changes exhibits, all of which connect to Edmond’s history. Permanent exhibits include the themes of Early Edmond Culture, from Native Americans to Pioneers, Religion, and an upcoming exhibit on Rt. 66. Visit our website at edmondhistory.org.
